• Refers to the process of treating whole tobacco leaves to conform to a specified blend at consistent quality in respect of size, color and moisture content. The finished products are Strips and Stem which are separately packed in cartons for further processing in a PMD.

  • Refers to the process of conditioning, blending, cutting, drying and mixing of tobacco as received from the GLT. Usually, the strips and stems are processed in two separate lines due to different process requirements. The finished product is Cut Rag which is either transported pneumatically to an adjacent SMD, or packed in cartons for shipping to designated SMDs at different locations.

  • SMD, Secondary Making Department, refers to the process of making cigarettes from Cut Rag, filter rods, cigarette paper and tipping paper. The finished cigarettes are packed in Packs. The Packs are collated and packed in Cartons which in turn are collated and packed into Cases. The Cases are the final product that is shipped to retailers for sale.

  • DIET was originally designed to allow reduction in cigarette smoke yield i.e., tar and nicotine. However, with the correct blend and cigarette design, huge savings has been achieved resulting in very good return of investment (ROI).

DIET process should allow 90 to 100% expansion. This normally correlates with an increase in filling power from an average standard blend of 4.5 to 5cc/gram @ 12.5% moisture to 8.0 to 10.0cc/gram @ 12.5% moisture. Depending on the percentage inclusion in the blend, this should generate a huge saving in tobacco utilization.

    Thermogenerator
Features a stainless steel fire chamber with hot gas channels and a secondary heat exchanger for improved fuel efficiency. It includes two dampers (automatic for fresh air intake, manual for recirculation), high-efficiency spray nozzles for air humidification, and a double inlet fan for circulation. Safety features include a safety valve, galvanized steel and rock wool insulation, and secure access doors.

    Automation
Controlled by the JUMO IMAGO 500, managing air temperature, humidity, and fresh air intake. It supports up to 100 programmable drying modes, manual control, and emergency monitoring with automatic stop/resume functionality. A fire alarm system shuts off the gas supply and activates an audible warning.

    Drying Section
Built with galvanized tubes and insulated 40 mm panels. Includes two or three sealed doors with locking mechanisms and air dampers to release humid air. The galvanized steel floor ensures even hot air distribution.

    Tobacco Racks
Constructed from galvanized square tubes with welded needles and locking spring-attached profiles to secure tobacco leaves.
